Community Safety is about reducing all crime, anti-social behaviour and violent crime including domestic violence. Breckland has historically been a low crime area so reducing the fear of crime and making people feel safe is our primary objective. We will focus on social, environmental and economic causes of crime and its effects within the community.
The aim is to address community problems with community based solutions. These are tackled by working in partnership with the following:
- Norfolk Police (Safer Neighbourhood Teams)
- Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service
- Norfolk County Council
- Town Councils in Attleborough, Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford and Watton
- NHS Norfolk
- DAAT Norfolk (Drug and Alcohol Team)
- Community and Local Action Groups based in Attleborough (SNAP), Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford (STAG) and Watton
- Safer Schools Partnership in Thetford (Charles Burrell and Rosemary Musker High Schools)
- Prolific and Priority Offender Team
Partnership is about recognising that the police alone cannot eradicate crime and the causes of crime and criminality. For information on the Safer Neighbourhood Teams in Breckland please click below.
