LAST UPDATED 2 NOVEMBER 2009
Stray dogs can cause many problems such as causing serious road accidents or biting a child as well as being stressful for the owner of the lost dog.
The Dog Enforcement and Control Officer (DECO) responds to complaints and will pick up stray. If a dog is picked up and it is wearing a collar or a tag, it is easier to be reunited with its owner. Please note that under normal circumstances the DECO can only respond to and collect stray dogs that have been contained.
From April 2008, you can report a stray dog and arrange for it's collection by calling:
01953 881268 or 07787 554549
If no response please contact 01362 656870 (daytime)
or 0845 6013390 (out of hours).
If you have lost a dog, you can follow this link to the stray dog pictures page where pictures of recently found dogs are displayed until claimed by their owners.
We will endeavour to reunite dog and owner as soon as possible, however if this is not possible and the dog has to be kennelled, there will be a charge to the owner to cover the kennelling and any veterinary costs.
If you believe your dog to have been stolen, please report this directly to the police.
