Informals - Am I Likely To Get Planning Permission?

If you are considering making a planning application, we are able to offer an informal opinion on the likelihood of permission being granted.  This can be very useful as it could identify any possible amendments or improvements to the scheme before it is formally submitted and could deter applications which would have little or no prospect of success.

We always advise that queries are put to us in writing, allowing us time to research and consider the issues and give a more comprehensive reply.

All proposals for development are assessed against National, Regional and local planning policies.  See our Planning Policy pages for information about the policies that apply in Breckland.  In order to assess which policies may relate to your proposal we need to identify the site and have full details of your intentions whether it be, for example, the erection of a new dwelling or extension or the establishment of a business.  While, at this stage, you would not require full scaled and detailed architect's drawings, we would need to see how the proposal would relate to the highway, existing buildings, trees and any adjoining properties.

Any views expressed would be based on the contents of your letter and limited desk-based research only.  We would not visit the site.  Should a formal application be submitted, a full appraisal of the proposal would be undertaken which, together with the normal process of consultation with interested parties, could identify further issues that the Council would wish to take into account.  Any response should not, therefore, be assumed to be comprehensive or binding on any future decisions of the Council.
