Planning Permission: Changes of Use |
If you want to change the use of a building or land, you may need planning permission. Some examples are listed below of what types of changes are “permitted” and which need permission. Planning permission is not usually needed when both the existing and proposed new use are the same “Use Class”. This Summary of the Use Classes Order will give you a class your use falls into. It is also possible to change uses between some classes without making an application. It is given in the last column of this summary. You can also contact us direct either by email or writing to us to establish whether an application is required.
