Local Air Quality Management - LAQM

We have completed and published Stages One and Two of our Review of Breckland's Air Quality in accordance with the timetable set by the Government. Based on the information produced by these two exercises, it did not prove necessary to proceed to the more detailed stage three assessment.

• The Detailed Assessment 2004 concluded that the Air Quality Objective for PM10 was exceeded and an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) should be declared.

• The previous report, The Updating and Screening Assessment (USA) 2003 concluded that a Detailed Assessment of air quality be carried our for PM10. The 2003 report is available here.

There is a permanent monitoring station set up at the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Reserve at East Wretham, it continuously measures oxides of nitrogen, particles and ozone.

Regular nitrogen dioxide and radiation monitoring are also carried out in Attleborough, Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford and Watton.
