Market instability for recycled materials
Breckland Council would like to reassure its residents that despite recent downturns in market prices for recyclable materials, all the recyclables we collect are finding their way to re-processors and manufacturers in the UK who will use the materials again. In other words, it’s business-as-usual and we’re still able to recycle 42% of Breckland’s household waste.
Contrary to many reports in the press which have claimed that councils are simply landfilling their recyclables, councils in Norfolk are continuing to find end-markets for products. This is partly due to the high quality of recyclable materials that Norfolk produces, and we therefore urge residents to continue placing the correct materials in their black recycling bins from where we will ensure they are appropriately recycled.
