Are you a survivor of violence or domestic abuse? Do you want to stay living in your own home but don't feel safe? The Norfolk Sanctuary Scheme can help to make your home more secure and provide ongoing support from specialist organisations.

The Norfolk Sanctuary Scheme can provide additional security measures to your home at no costs to yourself to make you feel safer about staying there. You could be a tenant or a homeowner.

The scheme is not means-tested, but is only available to those who wish to remain in their own home, where it will be safe and affordable for them to do so.

If you wish to be considered for the scheme (and you will not be committed to anything until the works are done), you can either contact our Housing Advice & Homelessness Team on 01362 656870, or by email at housing.advice@breckland.gov.uk , or if you would rather speak to a specialist support agency you can contact the Olive Tree on 01760 722669. You can also speak to the Police Domestic Violence & Hate Crime Units, who are well trained and sensitive specialists by calling 0845 456 4567 and asking for someone in the unit covering your home area. If you are a victim of violence that is not domestic violence you can speak to Victim Support on 01603 629577.

It is your choice who you speak to, and although all these agencies will work together on your application, you will not have to speak to everyone, and you will have one contact at one of the agencies to help you through the whole process, as well as as much support as you need to cope with your situation.

The Norfolk Sanctuary Scheme is available from all the councils in the county, so if you live outside the Breckland district you can contact your local council or specialist support agency/Police Domestic Violence Unit.
