What you need to know

How to find us:

Breckland Council’s main head office is located in Dereham, just off the A47 (sign-posted Dereham). Whether you are travelling from Suffolk or Norfolk – or even further afield, the scenic roads and byroads of Breckland make it ideal touring country.

What should you bring with you?

When you attend an interview at Breckland Council, you will be required to bring various documents with you.

Please bring with you to interview original certificates or any relevant qualifications.

To comply with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 we also require all candidates at interview, to bring with them ‘documents which provide evidence of the right to work in the UK’. (document will open in new window)

Travel Expenses

Reasonable expenses will be payable at standard rail fare rates or car mileage at 11.7p per mile. Travel costs and other coincidental expenses should be claimed on the enclosed interview expenses claim form, which must be signed by you and receipts, if applicable, should be attached.

We will send you an expenses claim form with your invitation to attend interview.

Pre employment medical declaration/Rehabilitation form

You should have received a pre-employment medical declaration and rehabilitation form when you were invited to interview. You are required to complete both forms and return prior to your interview.

Criminal Records Bureau Disclosures

If the position you have applied for warrants contact with children, the elderly or other vulnerable people then you will be requested to complete a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure.

If the post you are being interviewed for is subject to these checks then it will be stipulated in the Job Description.

A disclosure is usually only carried out on successful candidates who have been selected for appointment, and any offer of appointment will be subject to clearance of these checks. Your offer of appointment may therefore be withdrawn if your checks are not clear.

If you are required to give a presentation on your interview day as part of the selection process and require specific equipment, please make the Human Resources Assistant aware. Further detailed information will be in your interview correspondence.
