Safe and secure communities
The Government has expressed a commitment to the delivery of safer and more secure communities, through continuous improvement to the delivery of crime reduction and community safety. At the heart of this improvement agenda lie the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships, they have a crucial role in supporting the delivery of the Home Office crime reduction and drug strategy agendas
The Crime and Disorder Act 1998, amended by the Police Reform Act 2002, places a clear statutory obligation on specific agencies known as ‘responsible authorities’ to work with other agencies in the community to audit, design, develop and implement a strategy that will effectively tackle crime, disorder and the misuse of drugs in their local areas.
The responsible authorities in the Breckland Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) include:
- Breckland Council
- Norfolk Fire Authority
- Norfolk Police Authority
- Norfolk Constabulary
- Norfolk County Council
- West Norfolk Primary Care Trust (Health)
Breckland CDRP aims to make Breckland ‘a better and safer place’; enabling solutions that enhance the quality of life for all individuals and communities living and working in Breckland.
