Community Car Schemes
Breckland Council help to financially support a number of community car schemes across the district. These car schemes are a non-profit making form of car sharing. They provide essential journeys for people without access to a car and where there is no suitable public transport. Volunteer drivers use their own cars and are paid on an agreed rate to cover their running costs, as permitted by the Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981.
The car schemes are for medical and medical related journeys, for example, hospital and doctors appointments. The scheme is also sometimes used for visits to the sick and elderly.
