Breckland Council’s Chairman

  • Is elected annually by the Council from amongst the Councillors.
  • The main duty of the Chairman is to preside over principal meetings of the Council.
  • The Chairman will also attend events as the Council’s representative.

Breckland Council will pay the Chairman an allowance to enable him to meet the expenses of his term of office; this allowance pays for:

  • clothing
  • donations to charities
  • collections
  • purchase of a poppy wreath
  • annual reception
  • vehicle mileage
  • Christmas cards
  • bouquets of flowers
  • etc

INVITATIONS

The Chairman tries to attend all invitations received.

If you have, or you know somebody who has, a special occasion to celebrate, e.g. Golden Wedding anniversaries, 100th birthdays, etc. then contact the Chairman’s Secretary to see if the Chairman would be able to attend any event you have planned to celebrate the occasion, a bouquet of flowers will be presented.
Please give as much notice as possible as the Chairman’s diary is always busy.
