The Great Get Together Grant - One off community grants (April - 2 May 2017)
Breckland Council is offering one-off grants to enable communities to participate in The Great Get Together, a nationwide event to be held over 17 - 18 June 2017 to encourage people of all backgrounds to come together.
The event is being held to honour the late MP Jo Cox, who inspired many when she said that we have more in common than divides us.
Paul Claussen, Breckland Council Executive member for Place said: "This special weekend of community celebrations is a fitting way to honour Jo Cox and we want to encourage as many people as possible to take part. It will be a fantastic opportunity for residents to get to know their neighbours better, have fun and make new friends.
"I am encouraging local clubs and organisations in the district to find out more and get in touch. We've made our grant application process simple and straightforward, and you'll find there are lots of suggestions and advice about event organisation available from the national organising body."
Events could include organising a street party, a community barbeque or even a neighbourhood bake-off competition.
Organisations such as parish councils, sports clubs, women's institutes and social clubs are eligible to apply to Breckland for grants of up to £200; only one application can be made per group. The deadline for all applications is 2 May 2017. A decision will be made by 5 May 2017.
