Half term fun
With activities including drawing, drumming, dodgeball and dance on offer, Breckland youngsters will be spoilt for choice this half term.
The sessions, organised by Breckland Council in partnership with Norfolk Dance and Parkwood Leisure, are aimed at children from reception age upwards and will be held at town and village venues around the district. Arts sessions include cartoon workshops for children from reception age to 11 years and family drumming sessions where mums and dads can join their children to learn about pulse and tempo through games and activities. At the street dance sessions, children aged 11-16 years will be taught the basics in hip hop style, and can learn all the latest moves.
Throughout the half-term, Breckland’s Freestyle Sports team will be out and about, delivering multi-sport sessions covering an exciting variety of activities including quick cricket, dodgeball, rounders and athletics. These classes are for children aged 5 – 10 years
Lynda Turner, Breckland Council Executive Member for Localism, Community and Environmental Services said: “A week at home with the children when it’s cold and wet can be a daunting prospect and being able to book an outing or two makes all the difference. There’s a great variety of activities on offer so there’s bound to be something to suit most children. We appreciate that household budgets are stretched at the moment and have kept prices at an affordable level. Street Dance classes are £2.50, and all other classes are just £2 per session”.
The arts and sports sessions will be held in a number of different venues throughout the district, and most have different booking contacts. For more information, look on communities section of the Breckland Council website, in the latest copy of Breckland Voice, or call the Breckland Contact Centre on 01362 656870. Places are limited, so early booking is advised.
