Parking in Dereham up for debate in open meeting

The future of parking in Dereham will be up for debate at an open meeting held on Tuesday 6th December, at 7pm in the Anglia Room, at Breckland Council Offices.

This meeting follows a period of consultation when Breckland Council opened the debate by inviting residents who live, work or shop in Dereham to comment on parking provision in the town.

Cllr Shirley Matthews, Chairman of the Parking Task and Finish Group said:  “The Council is keen to hear the views of residents on any parking matters in the town such the condition of town’s car parks, illegal parking, enforcement and management of parking space turnover”.

“Those who live, work and shop in the town have the best on-the-ground knowledge, so we want to hear from as many local people as possible. We will also be inviting local organisations such as Norfolk Police, Konectbuses, Norfolk County Council and the Town Council to the meeting so it will be an interesting and useful debate”.

Members of the Council’s Parking Task and Finish Group visited the Council-owned car parks on 15th November, to get a clearer picture of any problems and potential improvements prior to the open meeting.

For those who are not able to get to the Open Meeting, comments can be emailed to scrutiny@breckland.gov.uk, or left on the Council’s dedicated Facebook page (accessed via the newsflash button on the front page of the Council website). Further details of the open meeting will be shown on the Breckland website nearer the time.
