Youth Council charity car wash success
Breckland Youth Council have said a huge thank you to all those who got their vehicles washed at a fire station over the weekend to raise money for Childline.
The event saw members of the Youth Council, Princes Trust Team programme and Thetford firefighters roll up their sleeves to tackle over 30 vehicles. Youth Council Ambassadors Alistair Wright and Councillors Stuart Green, Nigel Wilkin, Carl Clark and Terry Jermy showed up on the day to offer support and have their cars washed.
In total, £268.63 was raised, which will be shared between Radio Hearts appeal supporting Childline and the Firefighters charity.
This event also provided an opportunity for people in the community to meet and have a chat with their local firefighters about keeping their homes safe from fire.
Aaron Protheroe, Breckland Youth Councillor said; “The day was fun if a little wet, we got to use a pressure washer on the cars which was a real fun part! We think it’s important for young people to have a say and ensure their voices are heard, whoever they are and wherever they’re from. We can all make a difference and support children and young people all over the country that may have nowhere else to turn. Initiatives like this are a great way to raise money to help and also have some fun along the way!”
