FINANCE

The Financial Services team provides financial and accounting advice and information to Members and Officers of the Council. It also manages the Exchequer function which deals with paying of Creditor invoices and issuing of sundry Debtor bills.

Council Tax and Council Tax Benefit are managed by The Anglia Revenues Partnership. Click on the link below to access the service:

How you can pay your Council Tax

  • By Telephone
    You can contact our 24 hour payment service on 0845 600 1936 to pay by debit card. Please have your debit card and account number to hand when you call. Calls are charged at the local rate. Enquiries should not be made on this number.

  • By Post
    Send to the Finance Department, Breckland Council, Elizabeth House, Walpole Loke, Dereham, NR19 1EE. Your account reference shown on the front of your payment notice, MUST be quoted when making a payment. Cheques and postal orders should be made payable to Breckland Council and your account reference written on the reverse of the cheque. Post dated cheques are not accepted.

  • Direct Debit
    Paying by Direct Debit is the easy way to pay. You can choose from the following payment dates ~ the 5th, 15th, or 25th of each month.
    If you wish to pay by Direct Debit, please contact our office by telephone on 01362 656871 and ask for a Direct Debit mandate form to be sent to you.

Council Tax Banding

Each dwelling is billed for Council Tax, whether it is a house, bungalow, flat, maisonette, mobile home or house boat, and whether it is owned or rented.
Each property allocated to one of eight bands according to it's market value on 1st April 1991. Properties in Band D pay the basic charge, properties in other bands are charged proportionately.

 D £68,001-88,000 £1332.06
 E £88,001-120,000 £1628.07
 F £120,001-160,000 £1924.09
 G £160,001-320,000 £2220.10
 H £320,001 and over £2664.12

These amounts help to pay for the services provided by:

  • Breckland Council
  • Norfolk County Council
  • Norfolk Police Authority

If you reside in an established Parish or Town Council area, your final bill will have an additional sum that is a contribution to them, they are noted in each of the parish web pages on this website.
