Disability Equality

' '

The Disability Equality Scheme (DES) demonstrates how Breckland Council intends to fulfill its statutory duties under the Disability Discrimination Act 2005.  The scheme and the action plan that were published in December 2006, set out Breckland Council's priorities and key actions to improve our services and employment practices for disabled people within Breckland for the next three years.  Every year, we have to review the progress of our Equality Disability Scheme and report this to our Overview and Scrutiny Commission and the Cabinet.  This ensures that our elected members and senior management are kept up to date on the progress of the scheme and allows them to contribute to the scheme for the benefit of disabled people in Breckland.  The report and update to the scheme can be viewed on the hyperlink towards the bottom of this page.

Breckland's Disability Equality Scheme complements the Norfolk Partnership Disbabilty Equality Scheme, a county-wide disability equality scheme that aims to improve services for disabled people.  This disabilty equality scheme has been developed by a multi-agency partnership of local district, city and county councils, housing associations, parish and town councils and, the Norfolk Constabulary and Police Authority.
