Notes: Because of the nature of much of the Breckland District (high clay content) problems of inadequate drainage have been and always will be a problem. Serious flooding situations do occur from time to time and the unauthorised filling in or inadequate piping of ditches compounds the problem. Pro-active and re-active measures are taken to minimise problems and major problem areas are investigated. The Environment Agency has a role to play in respect of certain issues and the appropriate use of the somewhat limited legislation is made when absolutely necessary.
