Prompted by Breckland's European funding designation in 2000, Breckland Council successfully led and facilitated the delivery of a regeneration programme within the District.
In partnership with regional and local organisations over £35 million of investment was made into the Breckland District (approximately £12 million drawn in from Europe). This investment supported many business and individuals in their development, created jobs and provided significant infrastructure improvements to market towns such as Swaffham and Thetford.
While this programme largely came to an end in 2007, it has laid the foundations from which Breckland Council and regional / local partners can build upon and take forward the regeneration agenda, improving prosperity in the area.
