Why should I want to sell to the Council?

Companies who provide goods and services to the public sector are generally seen as providing value for money as well as high quality.

Public bodies are seen as secure and creditworthy.  They have invoice payment performance indicators in which the aim is to pay all invoices that are not in query within 30 days.

The opportunities to meet the needs of the public sector network can provide companies with opportunities for expansion.

How do I find out about tenders?

Look on the web pages at www.breckland.gov.uk/procurement or send an e-mail to the Procurement Unit at procurement@breckland.gov.uk who will then add you to the list.

Does Breckland charge for tenders?

There is currently no charge for this.

What are my chances of winning a Council contract?

As long as the criteria laid down in the tender documents are met there is no reason why a company cannot attract business from the Council.  All purchasing within the public sector requires fairness and equality  in awarding contracts as well as value for money.

How can I improve my chances?

Read the Selling to the Council Guide and follow the tips for suppliers.  You also need to demonstrate that you can meet the required standards and provide value for money.

Does Breckland have a sustainable Procurement Policy?

Yes, this is part of the procurement strategy.

What is the OJEU?

The term 'OJEU' means the Official Journal of the European Union.  If the estimated value of a contract falls above the EU thresholds then we must advertise the tender in the supplement to OJEU. Some types of services are exempted from this requirement.
