Health and Safety

' '

Our Environmental Health service enforces health, safety and welfare standards in approximately 2,000 premises in Breckland, including offices, shops, catering premises and warehouses. The frequency of inspections is determined on the basis of risk, with the highest risk premises being inspected at least once a year.

You can contact the Health and Safety team on 01362 656870 or email healthandsafety@breckland.gov.uk

Accidents occurring in premises we enforce are investigated, and appropriate action taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Advice and information on occupational health and safety is freely available to the general public and to businesses.

A range of free leaflets can be downloaded from the HSE website:

www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/index.htm

Health and safety is about sensible, proportionate actions that protect people - not unnecessary bureaucracy and paperwork. A 10-point list on the HSE’s Business microsite shows some of the key actions required by law that apply to nearly every business, with downloads and additional information to help. The ‘What you must do’ list can be accessed at: www.hse.gov.uk/business/must-do.htm.
