Implementing Electronic Government (IEG)
In March 2001 the DETR published two documents outlining their plans for Local Government On line and Local e-Government Targets and introduced a requirement for every Council to produce an Implementing Electronic Government (IEG) statement every year leading to 2005.
These documents below describe how Breckland Council intends to implement electronic service delivery across the range of services and in partnership with other agencies such as the Norfolk Connect Partnership by 2005. The aim is to improve the quality, convenience, and cost efficiency of service delivery by using currently available technology as part of a national target for 100% e-Governance by 2005.
Each statement sets out the Council's overall plan, how it proposes to achieve this through specified targets and well planned implementation, and the anticipated benefits in terms of reduced costs and improved quality of service.
