DESIGN AND ACCESS STATEMENTS

From 10th August 2006, a statement covering the design principles and access considerations of your proposal needs to be submitted with most applications for planning permission and/or listed building consent.  The aim is to encourage higher design quality.  If you don't provide this statement along with your application, it will be returned to you without being registered.  For more information click here.

SAVED LOCAL PLAN

From 27th September 2007, in accordance with paragraph 1(3) of Schedule 8 to the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, a number of policies from the Breckland District Local Plan 1999 have been saved for use in determining planning applications.  These can be found within the Adopted Core Strategy and Development Control Policies Document as Appendix A - please follow the link below under Local Development Framework.

LOCAL DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK

Core Strategy & Development Control Policies Document

Breckland Council formally adopted its Core Strategy and Development Control Policies Document on the 17th of December 2009.

The Core Strategy DPD sets out a strategic vision and strategic policies to guide the growth of theDistrict up to the year 2026. It also contains a range of 'development control' policies against which planning applications will be assessed. It is accompanied by a Proposals Map (showing proposals in geographical format) and a Final Sustainability Appraisal (setting out the likely social, economic and environmental effects of the policies and proposals). The Core Strategy DPD and Proposals Map will form part of the Breckland Local Development Framework (LDF).

The Core Strategy DPD and Proposals Map was considered by an independent Inspector as part of a Public Examination in Summer 2009, with hearings held between 30th June and 17th July. The Inspector’s Report was published on 13th October 2009. and concluded that the Core Strategy DPD was ‘sound’, subject to a number of required changes. The adopted Core Strategy DPD and Proposals Map incorporate the binding recommendations of the Inspector.

Please follow this link for copies of the Adoption Statement, the Core Strategy DPD, the Proposals Map, the Sustainability Appraisal, the Sustainability Appraisal Adoption Statement and the Inspector’s Report.
