Raising Pride in Breckland

If you’ve ever dropped litter, thrown chewing gum or cigarette butts from your car window or allowed your dog to foul and not stopped to pick up the mess, it's time you took pride in your neighbourhood.

That's the message from the Breckland Partnership as it launched its ‘Pride in Breckland' campaign, which urges everyone in Breckland to take pride in their local area, community and environment.

Over the next few months the council will deliver a wide range of projects designed to create a strong sense of pride among the communities it serves.

Local people will be encouraged to find out more about events and activities that take place in their neighbourhood, support or join local groups and take some responsibility for the way their area looks and feels.

The campaign got underway on 29th July with the partnership’s Pride Marquee pitching up at events around the district.  The Pride team were out in force talking to visitors about the many community and voluntary groups whose efforts are already making Breckland a place to be proud of. Residents were also given the opportunity to have their say on issues that are important to their local area and what kind of community projects they would like to be involved with.

To coincide with the campaign launch, the Partnership has created a new Pride in Breckland website, www.prideinbreckland.org.uk, which draws attention to community heroes, highlights local events, community projects and how to get involved.

If you know someone in Breckland who goes that extra mile to take pride in their community, or you'd like to promote events, activities or community and voluntary groups in your neighbourhood, please call the prideline on 01362 853296. You can also use the Prideline number to report flytipping, littering, abandoned vehicles, graffiti, dog fouling and other environmental issues.
