The Sustainable Communities Team is committed to developing all aspects of sport across the district for the economic, social, educational and cultural benefits they bring to the community.
The Sports Development service aims to help facilitate club growth, raise participation, expand provision, and help educate the volunteer workforce that make community sport possible by working in partnership with Local Clubs, Active Norfolk, The School Sports Partnerships and the National Governing Bodies of Sports.
Holiday Activities
A wide range of sports activities are on offer every half-term and Easter and summer holiday for children and young people to take part in. Sessions take place in our more rural areas with our own multi sports coaches for 5-11 year olds, as well as in the central locations of the Market towns with sports specific sessions being delivered in partnership with local clubs for 12-16 year-olds.
The Sports Development service works in Partnership with Active Norfolk to put on a series of cheap, periodical sports courses designed to get the over 18-80’s back into sports they used to once play, or gently introduce them to something completely new.
Courses starting in Breckland this coming Autumn/Winter include Netball, Badmintion, Golf, Running, Basketball, Karate, and Bowls.
