 Advice for Residents
Although these types of incidents are rare it is important to know what to do when warned of an incident.
Upon receiving a warning of a release of a Toxic Chemical or Radiation
- Go indoors and stay there (see Go In, Stay In)
- Close all windows and air vents
- Switch off air conditioning, ventilation and fans
- Cover unsealed fresh food
During and after an incident
- Do not go outside until you are told to do so (see Tune In)
- Do not collect children from school they will be looked after
- Do not go outside to look for pets, if they were outside at the time of the emergency you may put yourself and others with your at risk if you let them in
- If you think you are contaminated do not leave the scene, wait for specialist advice.
