Free Off Peak Travel on Local Buses

In Norfolk: Pass holders can enjoy free travel between 8.30am and 11pm Monday to Friday as well as all day at weekends including Bank Holidays.

Elsewhere in England: Pass holders can enjoy free travel between 9.30am and 11pm Monday to Friday as well as all day at weekends including Bank Holidays.

Who can apply?

If you are a permanent Norfolk resident and are either;

How to apply

In addition to a completed application form we will need:

*A standard passport photograph - If you are applying by post please supply a standard passport photograph. If you are applying in person at one of our Customer Service Centres we can take your photo (this service is not available at Elizabeth house).

*Proof of identity

*Proof of Residency

*Proof of eligibility under the disability or age guidelines

Completed Applications, passport photos and accompanying supporting documents can be returned to us in person or by post

Online

If you have a printer, you can download our Free Bus Travel application form. Alternatively, if you don't have a printer, complete our online form and we will be able to send you an application through the post.  This can be returned to ourselves with proof of eligibility and one passport sized photo.

Post

If you’re unable to download and print the application, we can post you a bus pass leaflet and application form for you to complete and return to us. All you need to do is complete the Do It Online form.

Telephone

You can contact our Customer Contact Centre who will be happy to answer any more questions you may have and post a form and leaflet to you.

In person

You can visit one of our Customer Service Centres who always have a supply of applications forms. They can help you to complete the application form and verify your documents. The bus pass will be sent to you within 7 – 10 working days once the application form has been processed.

You will need to supply one recent passport sized photograph.

Proof of Identity and Residency

We will need to see two separate documents, one each from the following lists. Documents that appear on both lists can not be accepted for both purposes. We can accept photocopies; please do not send original documents through the post.

For Identity: Birth Certificate, Passport, NHS medical card, Driving license or a statement of entitlement to a pension.

For Residence: Bank statement, Benefit book, Council tax bill, Driving license, Doctors letter, correspondence from HMRC, medical or optical prescription, NHS medical card, pension book or utilities bill (but not a credit card or mobile phone bill)

Applying under the Age Criteria

As the pensionable age for women gradually increases from 60 to 65 over a ten-year period from 2010 to 2020 so too will the age of eligibility for the concessionary bus pass increase for both men and women. This means that by 2020 the age of eligibility will increase to 65.

We will need to see evidence of your age. A copy of your Birth certificate, Driving license, Passport, Pension Credit or Correspondence from the Pension Service will suffice.

Applying under the Disability Criteria

Please supply the appropriate documents when applying.

 Type of Disability Documents we need to see
 1) Registered blind/partially sighted Evidence of registration with Social Services
 2) Severely or profoundly deaf Evidence of registration with Social Services or a report from an aural specialist
 3) Unable to speakA completed Medical form or a GP’s letter A completed medical form or a GP’s letter. Please click here for relevant medical form.
 4) An Injury which has a serious long-term effect on the ability to walk Evidence of receiving the higher-rate mobility component of DLA or a completed Medical form or a GP’s letter. Please click here for relevant medical form.

Validity, Renewals and Lost Permits

The bus pass is valid for four years if you are a senior citizen and for other concessionary applicants the bus pass is valid for one year.

The date of expiry is printed on the front of your permit.

Should you lose or misplace or have your permit stolen, inform us immediately. There is an £8.00 replacement fee..
