Health Walks 2009 |
Walking for Health in Breckland and Brandon Walking is increasingly recognised as one of the best ways to improve your physical health and mental well being. Regular walking can increase your energy level and assist with weight control. Walking for health can also reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, some cancers and anxiety and stress. The Walking for Health Initiative in Breckland and Brandon provides a range of short locally held walks that aim to encourage and support people who are trying to increase their activity levels and lead a healthier lifestyle. To find out more about the scheme and to view the current walks programme click on the link below or contact Malcolm on 01842 757351 or email malcolm.bellingham@yahoo.com Could you be a volunteer walk leader? We are expanding the programme and are seeking to recruit new volunteer walks leaders to help with the scheme’s organised walks, to lead walks for your own group or to develop walks in your own communities. We can offer free training covering all aspects of organising and leading a health walk. We also provide ongoing support and can pay expenses. People don’t need to be experienced but they do need to be enthusiastic, reliable and reasonably active.
