28 January 2021: Creating a Sanctuary: embedding a culture of welcome into your school, group or business

How to embed a culture of welcome in your school or business for refugees and migrants.

Hear about Thetford Town of Sanctuary, work with Migrant Help, how to become a School or Business of Sanctuary and how the museum can help.

Speakers include:

Sophie Willis (Aid Matters in Thetford) who will be talking about local campaign group, Aid Matters in Thetford. The group aims to highlight the good work being done all around the world through contributions of countries like our own. She'll also be talking about the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, and how these link to showing kindness and compassion for others, and encouraging a welcoming, safe environment for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.

Ken Nicholls and Theresa Mason are part of the Thetford Town of Sanctuary group. The group wants Thetford to be a welcoming, open and safe place for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. They will be talking to us about Thetford's journey to becoming a Town of Sanctuary and their achievements so far.

Razana Yassin will take us through the process of becoming a School of Sanctuary and giving us some top tips.

Sarah Gore from Norfolk Museum of Sanctuary will talk about how other organisations and businesses can gain a Sanctuary award.
