8 August 2021: 'Indian Suffragettes in Britain and the World' online talk

Indian women were involved in campaigns for the vote in both Britain and India across the early twentieth century. This talk will highlight the role of Indian suffrage campaigners in Britain, including the leading role of Norfolk's Princess Sophia Duleep Singh, and show how they were part of a worldwide movement. This talk will be given by Dr Sumita Mukherjee, historian and author of "Indian Suffragettes: Female Identities and Transnational Networks".
