28/05/21: Covid Safe Scheme for Breckland businesses is growing fast
Over 80 local businesses have now been given Covid Safe Scheme accreditation, and more are signing up to our scheme every day.
We started the scheme to give local businesses an official stamp of approval for their coronavirus safety measures. As part of the accreditation process, businesses are visited by our officers who check how well staff and customers are being protected from the spread of coronavirus. These safety measures include providing hand sanitiser, installing screens, wearing masks, encouraging social distancing, and putting in place one-way systems.
Once our team are satisfied a business has put in place significant measures and is committed to closely following the latest national guidance, we grant Covid Safe Scheme accreditation. This entitles a business to display a sticker in their window and be added to a roll of honour on the council's website.
Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen, Breckland Council's Leader, said: "I'm really pleased that businesses from across Breckland are continuing to sign up to our Covid Safe Scheme. We know business owners have been working incredibly hard to welcome customers back in as safe a way as possible, and we wanted to recognise and reward that effort.
"I'd urge all Breckland businesses to sign up to the scheme and benefit from getting accredited. You can let us know what safety measures you've put in place and at the same time reassure your customers they can visit your business with confidence."
"As our residents continue to return to our high streets, I hope they'll be looking out for a Covid Safe Scheme sticker whenever they visit a local business. So display yours proudly: you've earned it."
Our Covid Safe Scheme is open to all businesses operating in the district. You canrequest a free assessment for your business any time. The Covid Support team that will carry out the assessment can also provide advice and information about the range of other support available to help businesses as part of our 'Spring back' programme, which includes grant funding for equipment, training to trade online, and money to help deliver shop-front improvements.
