02/06/21: New bakery is a success story
Jazzy Cupcakes & Candy Company is coming to Dereham, with a grand opening weekend beginning Friday 4 June.
The owner of Jazzy Cupcakes & Candy Company, Dereham resident Louise Jarrett, has seen her business grow rapidly over the past year of lockdowns. Adapting quickly by offering collection and free local delivery of afternoon teas, tray bakes, mixed cake selection boxes and giant sweet boxes from her home meant her business thrived, and now Louise is ready to open her shop at 15 Norwich Street, Dereham.
Louise has received advice and guidance from our Regeneration Team. "The council have been amazing!" said Louise, "After I made initial contact my details were passed on to a Regeneration officer, who called me and provided all the information I needed, along with who else to contact. The officer from the Food Safety Team has been brilliant too, answering my many questions!
"The council sent me information on the grants I can apply for - I didn't realise that this help was available to me, so this advice has been so useful. I am really hoping I will be entitled to the grants as that would certainly relieve a lot of pressure and give me a head-start to growing my business further."
The 'Grand Opening' of Jazzy Cupcakes & Candy Company will begin at noon on Friday 4 June when Cllr Roy Brame, the Chairman of Breckland Council, will officially declare the new shop open. The special opening weekend will continue until 5pm, and then Saturday 5 June, 11am - 4pm, and Sunday 6 June, 11am - 3pm, with a stilt walker in attendance, and hand out leaflets, free taster samples of some of the products, and free sweets and balloons for children.
"The Grand Opening is a celebration and a chance for me to thank the local community for the fantastic support I've received from them since starting my business in 2014, but especially during the pandemic," said Louise, "It's been my busiest year yet and I'm super excited to see what the future holds for Jazzy Cupcakes & Candy Company."
Cllr Paul Claussen, Executive Member for Economic Development and Growth at Breckland Council, said: "Success stories for local businesses like Louise's are exactly what we as a council like to hear - now more than ever. I know our team are delighted to be back visiting business owners across our district and talking face-to-face. So if you have a new or growing business, get in touch with us and see what we can do to help."
