09/07/21: Swaffham to become international company's headquarters following Green Britain Centre sale

An expanding international business has started on preparations to move its headquarters to Breckland following completion of the sale of Swaffham's Green Britain Centre.

In January, Breckland Council confirmed that it had a buyer for the building, with the sale officially completed this week. It can now be revealed that the building has been bought by Flexion Global Limited trading as Arbortec Forestwear, a rapidly expanding company which specialises in the design and manufacture of personal protective equipment for the forestry and agricultural industry.

The move is expected to see their existing staff brought to the town in the coming months, as well as the creation a number of new posts over the coming years.

The Green Britain Centre is set to become Arbortec Forestwear's new headquarters and innovation centre. It is currently based in west Norfolk and will continue to run its operations there for around six months while the Green Britain Centre is refitted, before bringing its existing staff to the town in early 2022. The growing company expects to create new posts based in Swaffham in the next few years.

It designs, makes and sells its equipment across the globe, including chainsaw trousers to protect arborists, forestry workers and landscapers, as well as boots, gloves, helmets, and more.

Karl Brothers, Managing Director of Arbortec Forestwear, said: "We're delighted to have purchased the iconic Green Britain Centre, which will facilitate and support the company's global growth strategy.

"We are excited that the Green Britain Centre will once again become a busy hub of activity, supporting the local community in the heart of Breckland and providing employment opportunities for the area.

"As a company, we are passionate about nature and believe in protecting and maintaining our environment and that makes the Green Britain Centre - with its environmental heritage - such a great facility for our global HQ."

Cllr Paul Hewett, Breckland Council's Executive Member for Property and Projects, commented: "Attracting an international business to Swaffham is a great coup and I'm delighted to welcome Arbortec Forestwear to our district.

"The company is set to bring a significant number of jobs to Breckland, which is great news for local people, while breathing new-life into the iconic building and continuing a journey which is fitting with it ecological past."
