17/04/18: Second stage consultations commence for Thetford, Carbrooke and Great Ellingham reviews
Following on from public consultations held earlier this year on the administrative changes requested by Thetford, Carbrooke and Great Ellingham parish councils, Breckland Council is calling on residents in these parishes again, to give their views on revised proposals. Feedback is also sought from those living in the adjacent parishes of Croxton, Brettenham, Kilverstone and Attleborough. The consultations began on 16 April and will run until 22 June 2018.
The three parish councils submitted their proposals to Breckland Council earlier this year, and these requests triggered a formal Community Governance Review (CGR) - a statutory process whereby district councils can create parish councils, review and change boundaries and carry out a number of other reviews. The consultations are organised by Breckland Council, who are managing the CGR process.
Cllr Mark Robinson, Breckland Council Executive member for Governance said: "I'd like to thank everyone who took part in the first consultations - your views and suggestions have helped inform the proposals that are going forward for the second stage of consultation. Now we need you to get involved again - all the information you need about the revised proposals is on our website and officers will be happy to help if you have any questions".
In the case of Great Ellingham the revised proposal is for an extension of the parish boundary to the B1077. The revised Thetford proposal is for no change to the current arrangements and the third request, for Carbrooke Parish Council to increase the size of its parish council from seven to nine members, is as originally submitted.
Details of the changes requested can be found at www.breckland.gov.uk/CGR-secondconsultation-2018. Responses to the consultation should be sent via the online form on the website, by email to email@example.com or by letter to Breckland Council, Democratic Services, Community Governance Review, Elizabeth House, Walpole Loke, Dereham, NR19 1EE. All feedback received will be published on the council website in accordance with the statutory process.
After the second stage consultations close, Breckland Council's Community Governance Sub-Committee will consider these responses before making a final recommendation to Council in autumn.
