The Silver Social
The Silver Social is an exciting programme in the heart of Norfolk, aimed at bringing arts to older people in rural communities. As an Arts Council strategic touring funded project, managed by Breckland Council, Silver Social brings something a little different to daily life in towns and villages across Breckland, Norfolk, through touring circuits of creative workshops and live performances. Whether you want to meet new people over a cuppa, take part in new social pursuits, or you know a neighbour or family member who might like to join a new group, we aim to bring high quality accessible arts in a friendly familiar space.
There are also volunteering opportunities for those already active members of the community, or looking to be more active, in the form of Volunteer Events Promoters and Volunteer Events Coordinators.
Working with partners Creative Arts East, Norfolk Museum Service, Norfolk Library Service, and Norfolk County Council Public Health, Breckland Council has created an ambitious touring arts programme to towns and villages identified as having high populations of older people living on their own. These are Attleborough, Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford, Watton, Ashill, Harling, Shipdham, and Necton.
