Basis: up to 12 month fixed term contract

The Facilities and Compliance Officer plays a key role in maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant council premises. Working across multiple sites, the postholder will complete statutory testing, maintenance, and safety procedures in accordance with legislation and internal policies. The role combines hands-on maintenance with administrative compliance monitoring.
The Property Team manage the Council's assets which includes our Headquarters and Commercial Properties along with serviced office accommodation across the District. We ensure these operational and commercial assets are fit for purpose and serving our customers and businesses in the most effective way. About you:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Facilities and Compliance Officer who is as passionate about our property as we are and keen to ensure the Council's Headquarters, Conference Centre and Serviced Offices are compliant and maintained to a high standard for all users.
You will be keen to use your practical skills to sustain a high performing service whilst working collaboratively with immediate colleagues and the wider Property Team.
You will be a good communicator and have excellent organisational skills, with proven experience in completing Facilities and Compliance tasks within a property environment.
Committed to 'getting things done', you will be self-motivated, a problem solver and able to work creatively and collaboratively to deliver results and constantly prioritise workstreams.
As a confident Facilities and Compliance Officer, you will be comfortable completing manual tasks alongside undertaking compliance testing and working within a team, alongside contractors, and a diverse range of stakeholders, to achieve the best outcomes.

As our Facilities and Compliance Officer, you will:
- Undertake maintenance, minor repairs and general upkeep of the Council's assets.
- Be competent in conducting regular compliance testing across the estate as per legislation including legionella testing, fire alarms, emergency light testing and fire safety inspections
- Support staff with facilities-related requests, including office and meeting room setups, furniture moves, and minor repairs.
- Keep accurate compliance records
- Ensure all documentation and maintenance schedules are up to date
- Ensure that the property portfolio is compliant at all times.
- Handle customer / tenant complaints and queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Be responsible for safe working with good health and safety awareness
- Be organised, a good communicator and customer focused.
- Monitor and replenish kitchen supplies (e.g. tea, coffee, milk, and sundries) to ensure staff areas remain well stocked across the premises
- Escalate any issues or problems to the Maintenance and Projects Surveyor.
