12/12/2025: Local groups receive a share of nearly 30k grant funding from Breckland Council
Breckland Council is boosting local communities by awarding £28,295 to Breckland-based groups in its latest round of Inspiring Communities Match-Funding Grants. Relaunched in 2024, the scheme has already invested over £100,000 into projects that benefit the lives of residents.
The grants support grassroots groups and charities that make a tangible difference in the district by tackling vulnerability and inequality, while enhancing the health and wellbeing of residents. The funded initiatives align with the priorities of the Inspiring Communities Programme and Breckland Health and Wellbeing Partnership, which include helping people who have experienced domestic abuse, mental health challenges, and social isolation.
Delivered in partnership with Norfolk Community Foundation, the three-year grant scheme is committed to building a happier, healthier district, with thriving, better-connected communities.
With £300k of funding allocated to community organisations over three years, the programme empowers local groups through strategic partnerships, early intervention, and funding support.
The most recent round of funding has been awarded to:
- Home-Start Norfolk: Awarded £4,954 to support the organisation's core delivery in Breckland.
- Love Dereham Ltd: Awarded £5,000 to contribute to the Love Dereham co-ordinator post.
- Norfolk Clubhouse: Awarded £3,350 to continue running twice-weekly sessions for adults with enduring mental health conditions at the Watton Hub.
- Norwich City Community Sports Foundation: To start delivering the Extra Time programme in Thetford, providing older adults (55+) with opportunities to stay active.
- The Offshoot Foundation: Awarded £5,000 towards the delivery of free film-making workshops for young people in Thetford.
- Wellspring Family Centre: Awarded £5,000 to support the running costs of the Well-come programme.
Cllr Tristan Ashby, Executive Member for Health and Communities, said: "Now in its second year, I'm delighted to see that Breckland's Match-Funding Grants are continuing to make a real difference to community groups. These initiatives, some of which rely on our funding, are a lifeline for many of our residents, and are essential in helping us build a stronger, more resilient district."
