Use of cookies

To make this site simpler, we sometimes place small data files on your computer. These are known as cookies. Most big websites do this too.

They improve things by:

  • remembering settings, so you don't have to keep re-entering them whenever you visit a new page
  • remembering information you've given so you don't need to keep entering it
  • measuring how you use the website so we can make sure it meets your needs

These cookies aren't used to identify you personally. They're just here to make the site work better for you. Indeed, you can manage and/or delete these small files as you wish.

Third-Party Cookies

Because Breckland District Council works with various external suppliers to provide services such as payment facilities, third-party cookies include those set on external domains (i.e. other than www.breckland.gov.uk), including:

  • ip.e-paycapita.com (Online Payments)
  • angliarevenues.gov.uk(Council Tax, Business Rates and Benefits)
  • whitespacews.com (Refuse and Recycling)

These are cookies set by other websites whose services we use on www.breckland.gov.uk. They include functionality such as Google Maps embedded on some pages to show the location of various facilities and Google Translate, used to provide translation services for web pages.

In addition to our own cookie policy, these individual service providers may operate their own cookie policy and you are advised to refer to the individual service provider's websites for details of their respective cookie policies.

Cookies that measure website usage

We use Google Analytics software (Universal Analytics) to collect anonymised information about how you use www.breckland.gov.uk. We do this to help make sure the site is meeting the needs of its users and to help us make improvements to the site and to our digital services.

Google Analytics stores information about:

  • how you got to the site
  • the pages you visit on www.breckland.gov.uk and how long you spend on them
