Homes for Ukraine Scheme Host Payment

In Breckland the Homes for Ukraine Scheme offers an optional £500 per month “Thank You” payment to hosts who are accommodating one or more Ukrainian refugee households.

Only the lead sponsor if eligible for the ‘Thank You’ payment, which is available for a maximum of up to 24 months after the guest arrives and is limited to one payment per residential address. You will continue to receive payments for as long as you sponsor somebody. This payment will be made in arrears.

In the case of a re-match, the new host is eligible for sponsor payments for the outstanding number of months up to the end of the guest’s first 24 months.

Sponsors are not eligible for the monthly payment if they are charging a guest rent.

The UK government is ensuring ‘Thank You’ payments do not affect benefit entitlement and will remain tax-free. Prior to payment, checks will be carried out which will include a visit to your home.

If for any reason you need to end the sponsorship arrangement early, sponsors should inform Breckland Council as soon as possible.
