Emergency Proxy Vote

If you were planning on voting in person on 2 May but now won't be able to because you have been called away for work, have had a personal medical emergency, or your photo ID has been lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged then you may be able to apply for an emergency proxy. This means you can appoint someone to vote on your behalf. You can apply for an emergency proxy for one of three reasons:

  •   You have been called away unexpectedly for work.
  •   A medical emergency relating to you - you can't get an emergency proxy due to a medical emergency involving a friend or relative.
  •   Your photo ID is lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged and the deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate has passed.

In all cases, you must have become aware that you would not be able to go to the polling station after 17:00 on Wednesday 24 April. This was the deadline to apply for an ordinary proxy vote.

Your application must be received by Breckland Council by 17:00 on polling day. Completed applications can be emailed as an attachment to elections@breckland.gov.uk or posted or hand delivered to:

Electoral Registration Officer, Breckland Council, Elizabeth House, Walpole Loke, Dereham, Norfolk, NR19 1EE

More information and downloadable emergency proxy application forms (opens new window) are available from the Electoral Commission.
