Regulation 18 Local Plan Consultation 2025
Your plan, your future, your say
Breckland moves towards public consultation on its new Local Plan
Following the decision by Breckland Council's Cabinet a major public consultation is underway that will give local people the chance to help shape how the district grows and develops over the next 20 years.
The consultation on the Council's new Local Plan invites everyone who lives, works, studies, or runs a business in Breckland to have their say on where new homes, jobs, and infrastructure should go, and how best to protect the character of the towns, villages, and countryside that make Breckland special.
At its heart, the campaign asks a simple question: how should Breckland grow?
Through the message "Your plan, your future, your say," the consultation invites residents to get involved in shaping the long-term vision for the district — ensuring that future growth reflects local priorities on housing, the environment, transport, jobs, and community facilities.
Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen, Leader of Breckland Council, said:
"This is your plan, your future, and your chance to have your say on how Breckland should grow. The Local Plan will guide where new homes are built, where we create jobs, and what we protect for generations to come.
"By agreeing to move forward with this consultation, we're putting local voices at the heart of Breckland's future. Whether you care about affordable homes, green spaces, transport, or the character of your town or village, we want to hear from you."
The public consultation on the Draft Plan runs from Friday 31 October 2025 until 23:59 on Monday 15th December 2025 This stage of the local plan (known as Regulation 18) sets out the Council's draft policies and growth strategy and is an important stage in the plan-making process. It provides an early opportunity for our communities, businesses, landowners, developers, partners and stakeholders to 'have a say' and comment on the draft Local Plan before it is considered further and then finalised for the next (Regulation 19) stage. Further public consultation will take place at the Regulation 19 Stage.
