Community Car Schemes

What is a Community Car Scheme?

Breckland Council works in partnership with local town and parish councils to provide grants to enable the provision of Community Car Schemes. The schemes provide transport for residents who would otherwise be unable to make essential medical journeys. Volunteer drivers use their own cars and a small fare is typically payable by the passenger. Drivers are subject to DBS and medical checks.

Contact your town or parish council for details of their scheme, orsearch your eligibility for Norfolk County Council's Travel Norfolk Car Scheme (opens new window).

Guidance

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) provides comprehensive guidance aimed at reducing avoidable accidents across various environments, including road safety.

Visit the RoSPA website for road safety advice and information which could help the way you run your Community Car Schemes.
