BEIR-016140 - Private Water Abstractions

Information provided on private water abstractions within Breckland District for a proposed strategic water pipeline scheme.

Request

Request for information.

The WRMP programme of work involves the construction of 32 km of new strategic, large diameter potable water pipelines from Thetford to Harleston. Part of the pipeline passes through the Breckland Council area and we are in the process of preparing a geo-environmental desk study for the scheme. As part of the process we are collating all baseline data which will be used to inform our assessment.

To this end, we would be grateful if you could provide details of any private water abstractions or supplies records you may hold. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Location coordinates
  • Type of abstraction (groundwater or surface water)
  • Use of abstracted water
  • Surface water body or groundwater body from which water is abstracted
  • Water abstraction rates

A plan of the area or a shapefile can be provided via email if helpful.

Response

Two maps of the relevant areas have been provided based on the latest data supplied to Breckland District Council.

In addition, two Excel documents have been provided detailing:

  • The number of locations
  • The type of water source (for example, well or borehole)
  • The usage classification

The usage classifications are categorised as Commercial, Large Domestic, Shared Supply, or Single Dwelling.

Please note that obtaining more detailed information would require opening and reviewing each individual record for every water source. This would involve exporting data from individually uploaded files and, due to the time required, this task is considered manifestly unreasonable. Attachments included within the EIR response are available upon request to the Information Governance Team.
