Breckland Online Planning Application Register

Search for, view, and comment on planning applications

Welcome to our Planning Application Search facility

We publish planning applications, including applications for tree works, on our Planning system.

Search Planning Applications (opens new window)

You can view applications without an account but if you wish to comment on applications  you will need toregister for an account and sign in. (opens new window).

The option to login is at the bottom of an application page, or the top left of the screen

TIP: when you log in, the website takes you back to the Main Homepage, and by default the Building Control section (this is different to Planning).  So you will have to navigate back to planning.  If you 'Go Back' a couple of pages, you will get back to the application page you were on.  Alternatively, you can right-click on the Login link and Open In New Tab.  Refresh the application page to now see the option to submit a comment

Comment on Applications (opens new window)

Please be aware some applications will have data missing whilst we continue to manually update the records following a migration from our legacy system.  Thelegacy system (opens new window) will remain available for you to use so you can check both to ensure that you can locate any information you are seeking.

Comments (including names) will be displayed on the Website and therefore visible to anyone else viewing the application.  Signatures and email address are not displayed.  If the application is subject to appeal, comments will be forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate and may be published in full on their website.

Please ensure when submitting comments on a Planning Application they are limited to the material planning considerations of the proposed scheme. No reference should be made to a third party and no information should be included that could be considered inappropriate or defamatory. You should have regard to the GDPR Regulations and ensure no information is included that would fall under the Special Category. These include:

  • Race and ethnic origin
  • Religious or philosophical beliefs
  • Political opinions
  • Trade union memberships
  • Biometric data used to identify an individual
  • Genetic and Health data
  • Data related to sexual preferences, sex life, and/or sexual orientation

If comments are found to contain any of this information, they will be removed from the public website

Comments should only address material planning considerations. Although we can receive comments on matters that are not material to the Planning Application, only material planning considerations are taken into account when determining any planning application.

Material considerations are (for example):

  • Traffic and Parking
  • Appearance of the area
  • Impact on Conservation Area or Listed Building
  • Noise and Disturbance
  • Overshadowing
  • Privacy

Non-material considerations might be (for example):

  • Loss of private view
  • Effect on property values
  • Derogatory remarks about applicants or neighbours

To leave your comments start by selecting whether you Support or Object to the application, or if it is a General Comment.

You can type your comments into the text box below that.

  • To make the box bigger, drag the bottom right corner.
  • You can copy/paste text into here from another source such as a word document, if you wish to type up your text somewhere else first.
  • Your browser might have a built in spell checker, if you want to make use of that.
  • You can attach a file to your comment, or alternatively instead of a comment in the text box submit your comment within a file such as a pdf or word document, if you prefer.  Photographs and formatted statements are permitted; as with text comments, they are not made available online.
  • NOTE that if you want to attach a file only, you do have to add some text into the text box so that the system accepts your submission; you can just put in something like "See attached file".
  • Click the SUBMIT button.

Please be advised comments received will be taken into consideration in the determination process but individual responses to queries raised in letters will not be responded to.

Anonymous comments

Due to the legal requirement to make comments available for public inspection, we cannot provide anonymity or accept comments marked 'private or confidential'. In such instances they will be returned; where anonymous they will be destroyed

Submitting a Petition

Objections in the form of petitions are acceptable provided that:

  • Each page of the petition is headed with:
    • The application reference number;
    • The aim of the petition;
    • Reference to petitions and the details within including names and addresses will be displayed on the public website;
  • The names and address of those signing are provided and are readable;
  • The objection(s)/representation(s) are material planning considerations and clearly stated;
  • The name and address of the petition coordinator is included for receipt of acknowledgement and copy of decision (these will not be issued to individual signatories).

Pre-printed circular letters of objection or objection forms will be accepted, provided that they are individually signed and dated. The coordinator of such campaigns should make themselves known to the relevant Planning Officer.

Please note it is your responsibility to check the progress of a planning application, including key dates, determination date and when/if it might be heard at planning committee, by using the Planning search (opens new window) facility.

How to search with a planning reference, address or other text

The search facility offers a very comprehensive set of options to search for an application. You can use any or a combination of these. Some are free text, some are drop-down lists, and some are date ranges

The easiest way to find a specific application is to put in the reference in the top left box, but it must be the FULL reference

The other text boxes are 'wildcard' searches, they're not case sensitive there is no need for capital letters.  You can use these boxes to find a particular word in a proposal or address or applicant name, no wildcard symbol is needed.

Press Enter or click 'Search' to search using the options you have selected.

The search results is displayed at the bottom of the page, you will need to scroll down to see this. The list is in order of application reference with the most recent showing at the top.

If there are too many results, you can narrow down your search by using more of the options, for instance a decision date from/to, or a ward, or an application type.  Search again to see the results.

  • To find a specific address such as a house on a street, search the Street Name (and any other options to narrow down your search), then in the list of results you can use your browser's built-in text search (usually Ctrl+F).  You might also want to try the map search option.

TIP: there is also the Weekly Lists option in the left-hand menu, to see a list of applications received, or decided, in a specific week.

Click the 'View'button to open up the application, in a new browser tab.

The top section of the screen is the applications details, with the application type, address, proposal details, applicant, decision if it has been made, the relevant dates, and the Planning Officer dealing with it.

Underneath that you will normally see a map of the area as a snapshot image - the proposal area has a blue border
