Changes to collection days

Any changes to the collection days will be reflected online onMy Breckland prior to the collection taking place.

As of 21 March 2022, your recycling and household waste collection days might have changed. 

Even if your bin day stays the same, it may be collected at a new time.

Please leave your bin out by 06:30 on collection day. 

If my collection is missed, will you come back?

Please check that it is the right day for your bin to be collected. If it is the right day for your collection and we haven't taken your bin by the end of your collection day, then pleasereport a missed bin collection and we will come back. If you have concerns about your missed bin collection, please call Serco on 0330 1099 220.

Please note: we are experiencing minor disruptions to our service, meaning it may take a bit longer to return and empty your bin. Please leave it out and will get to you as soon as possible.

A missed collection must be reported by noon the day after your collection was scheduled to take place.

We will record bins that have not been put out for collection on our onboard computers. If your bin was not out for collection when the crew visited, we will not come back to collect until your next collection is due.

Please remember to place your bins out by 06:30.

Why was my neighbour's bin collected but mine wasn't?

It is possible that different parts of one road can have different collection days. To ensure you are presenting your bin on the right day, please check online atMy Breckland.

If your bin was presented on the right day and was still missed,report a missed bin collection. If you have concerns about your missed bin collection, please call Serco on 0330 1099 220.

Why are we making changes?

We are improving bin collection routes and changing collection days to make them more efficient and environmentally friendly.

These changes are necessary to ensure the smooth-running of the service both now and in the future. They will reduce the distances our bin trucks are travelling and accommodate new homes in the area and help crews to finish collections on time

When are the bin day changes happening?

From the week commencing Monday 21 March.

I haven't received a leaflet, when will I receive one?

All leaflets will be sent by second class post by 11 March, if you have not received one by this date you can request via email norfolkwaste@serco.com or by calling 0330 1099 220.

Will my collections be changed?

About 50 per cent of people will have a change to their recycling and household waste collection days will be changing and even if your bin day stays the same, it may be collected at a new time.

We will be sending a leaflet to everyone to explain these changes. 

When will my bins be collected?

We will write to everyone with this information, so look out for a leaflet in the post between Monday 21 February and Friday 11 March.

Collections happen any time during the day from 06:30. All bins must be out for collection by 06:30 on collection day, or the evening before.

Will my garden waste collections change?

There will be no changes to your Garden waste collections.

Can I put out extra sacks of household waste next to my green bin?

All household waste must be in placed in the bin we cannot collect additional sacks. 

My collection day hasn't changed, why do I have to put my bin out by 06:30?

Our collections can start as early as 06:30. Your day may not have changed but other collections on your round have, which will affect your collection time. Don't miss a collection, always put your bin out by 06:30 on your collection day, or the evening before.

If my collection day has changed, when will I be notified?

Leaflets will be delivered by 11 March. We will be updating My Breckland with any changes to the collection day prior to your collection taking place.

I haven't been notified of a change, but my neighbour has. Am I affected?

All residents will be sent a leaflet confirming your collection day. We will be updating My Breckland with any changes to the collection day prior to your collection taking place.

I need a large print version of the leaflet, how can I do this?

You will be able to find accessible options including changing colours, contrast levels fonts, sizing and use a screen reader onBin Collection Calendars.

I need the leaflet in a different language, how can I do this?

You are able to use the Google Translate tool by choosing your preferred language at the top of the page. 

I cannot move my bin to put it out for collection due to disability or ill health and have help with my collections, will this be affected if my day changes?

If you are subscribed to ourassisted bin collection service, our teams will continue to collect your bin from its normal storage space, take it to the bin lorry for emptying, and then return it back to its storage space.
