The £8m Thetford Riverside leisure complex brings a brand new cinema, hotel, and series of restaurants to Thetford.
It is a development which has been delivered by Breckland Bridge, an innovative joint venture between Breckland Council and The Land Group. The regeneration project is a key part of the council's vision for Thetford and will act as a catalyst for further development in the town and across the district.
Work began on the site, on Bridge Street near the town centre, in June 2015. Construction was completed in October 2016. Below you can find out more about the exciting leisure opportunities available at Thetford Riverside. Look out for further announcements as new tenants are confirmed. You can see ashort construction film and a live webcam view of the Thetford Riverside complex.
What's on offer?
Snap Fitness 24/7 opened a brand new gym in the leisure complex. This is the latest in a line of openings across the UK and is the first Snap Fitness in Norfolk. The large gym is easily accessible with ample parking and, as the name suggests, is open 24 hours a-day so members can train at a time that suits them
Visitors to The Light Cinema
are able to enjoy extra wide and extra comfy seating in each of the three, fully licensed screens, which all boast incredible 2D and 3D visuals with state of the art digital picture and sound. The cinema also has a café and bar so you can enjoy a coffee, light snack, glass of wine or a beer before or after your blockbuster movie, art-house film, or screening of a ballet, opera or theatre performance.
At the other end of the complex, national hotel chain Travelodge
offers 64 attractive, modern bedrooms. The rooms are all great value, making the hotel perfect for those looking to stay in Thetford as part of a leisure break. Equally, the hotel is a fantastic option for people who are stopping over in the town as part of their business travel.
People visiting Thetford Riverside can grab a bite to eat at Grand Central American Bar & Grill
, run by TLC Inns. The menu includes American favourites such as barbecue wings, macaroni cheese, lobster, hot dogs and burgers, salads, and a selection of steaks. TLC Inns is to invest £450,000 in the 156-cover restaurant and has created around 50 new jobs.
The leisure complex also includes four other units, all of which feature outside terraces for al fresco dining overlooking a newly landscaped, river front. Advanced discussions are underway with a number of restaurant chains interested in opening within the available units and further announcements will be made in due course.
