A newly refurbished play park on Dereham's Sandy Lane has been officially reopened after Breckland Council completed a £40,000 refurbishment.

The new play park includes climbing frames, swings, rocking play equipment and puzzle educational boards, all surrounded by safety fencing, benches and eco-mulch. The play park had been closed after a safety inspection deemed the existing play equipment to be in need of replacement.

Cllr Paul Hewett, Executive Member for Property, Projects & Procurement at Breckland Council, commented: "This significant investment by Breckland Council will ensure local families can enjoy a day out in the park on wonderful, brand new play equipment."

The new kit has been designed to encourage learning, physical activity, and group play, all essential activities for a child's development.

Cllr Clarke, local Dereham Ward member commented: "I am delighted to see the reopening on this much-loved community play park which has been funded by Breckland Council. I look forward to seeing local families enjoying this new facility over the coming weeks, months and years."
