Outside theatre tickets are being snapped up by eager drama fans from across Norfolk for Thetford's Stage and Screen Festival. As part of its finale the festival prepares to show Jane Austen's 'Sense and Sensibility' on 22 August, followed by Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' on 23 August.

Thetford Priory, founded in the early 12th century, will be providing a magnificent backdrop for Shakespeare and Austen's renowned tales, performed by Chapterhouse Theatre company. With the warm weather booked in, organisers are urging the public to book tickets now to avoid disappointment! Festival attendees are also being encouraged to bring along a picnic and seating to fully enjoy this marvellous theatrical experience set within the medieval monastic ruins of Thetford Priory.

'Sense and Sensibility' tells the exquisite and lively tale about sisters falling in love, making mistakes and experiencing heartbreak for the first time in their quest to find a balance between sense and sensibility. 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' is Shakespeare's best-loved romantic comedy, taking audiences on a thrilling journey to the most magical of forests full of star-crossed lovers, playful fairies, and hilarious travelling players. Beautifully designed Elizabethan costumes, a wonderful musical score and enchanting woodland creatures come together to make this an evening of unmissable summer theatre for all the family.

Breckland Council has funded the Stage and Screen Summer 2023 programme, in partnership with Thetford Town Council, to bring together local communities, attract visitors to the town and support local businesses.
