Time is running out for Breckland-based organizations and groups to seize the opportunity provided by the "Love Your Market Town" pilot fund, which is offering grants of up to £1,000. This pilot initiative, launched by Breckland Council and Norfolk County Council last month, aims to revitalize local market towns by encouraging innovative projects that generate footfall and enhance activity in these vibrant communities.

Businesses and community groups have until Friday, 22 September to submit their expressions of interest. The pilot fund is ready to invest £5,000 in Breckland's market towns, with a goal of granting £1,000 to deserving projects in each of the five towns: Attleborough, Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford, and Watton.

Cllr Fabian Eagle, Norfolk County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, emphasized the significance of this initiative: "Our market towns are the heartbeat of our local economy, and we are passionate about their potential. This pilot scheme challenges local businesses and groups to devise innovative ideas that entice residents to explore their town centres more frequently. If your business or community group is located in Attleborough, Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford, or Watton and has a compelling idea, we want to hear from you."

Cllr Paul Claussen, Executive Member for Economic Development and Growth at Breckland Council, expressed his excitement about this project and working in collaboration with county council partners: "By working closely with our county council partners, we've created a unique opportunity for local Breckland groups to present their creative ideas for enhancing our towns. I'm eager to hear people's ideas on how we can further enrich our towns, attract more residents to Breckland, bolster our town centres, and ensure the district continues to thrive."

There are no restrictions on the types of activities eligible for funding, as long as they have a clear connection to generating interest or increasing footfall in town centres.
