Breckland Council and Norlife, the operator of the Thetford Healthy Living Centre, are pleased to announce the signing of an agreement to develop a new 52 space parking facility adjacent to Breckland Leisure Centre.

The new facility will enable the Healthy Living Centre to grow in capacity, increase accessibility, and furthers Breckland Council's aim to support better health outcomes for residents working with our partners.

With construction work due to commence imminently, the announcement represents a major investment from Norlife and the NHS, in supporting local health services in Thetford.

Councillor Tristan Ashby, Executive Member for Health & Communities at Breckland Council commented: "I am incredibly pleased that we and our Leisure partners Lex Leisure, have been able to make land available for enhanced car parking at the Thetford Healthy Living Centre.

"We are committed to making sure that our assets best serve the needs of our residents.  Not only does this agreement represent good value for residents, it also helps make Thetford Healthy Living Centre that bit more accessible for our residents."

Barry Jenkins, CEO of Norlife Ltd commented: "Norlife is very pleased for the support of Breckland Council to facilitate the increase in car parking which, in addition to the support of the NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board; Community Health Partnerships and the NHS at large, has allowed the re-configuration of the Thetford Healthy Living Centre to provide much needed additional Primary Care facilities to support the continued growing population of Thetford."

Emma Kriehn-Morris, Interim Director of Commissioning Finance at NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board commented: "The investment into primary care facilities at Thetford Healthy Living Centre is essential to enable our local NHS services to meet the current and future healthcare needs in Thetford. The expansion of the existing car park will help to improve patient experience and access to these services in the short term and provide necessary space for more staff and patients to be able to access services as they continue to grow in future."
